A list of men who should have gotten the red hat, but didn't, must have Philip Hannan at the top. He is a retired Archbishop of New Orleans-- a great man and a war hero to boot. I had the good pleasure of meeting and talking with him at a St. Patrick's Day reception at St. Patrick's parish in 2003. (I was having Guinness, of course) Meeting him was the highlight of a terrific day-- I met Ambassador Lindy Boggs on the same occasion !
